c'est un grand séminaire interdiocésain hébergeant uniquement le cycle de philosophie. Comme d’autres Grands Séminaires du Rwanda, il est sous la juridiction de la Conférence épiscopale du Rwanda et sous l’autorité de la Congrégation pour l’Evangélisation des Peuples (Rome).

Sur le plan géographique, il se situe dans le District de Muhanga, Province du Sud, à 55 kilomètres au sud-ouest de Kigali. Ce Grand Séminaire se trouve dans la paroisse cathédrale de Kabgayi, diocèse de Kabgayi.
